The only thing growing is your nose, Pinocchio
Growth is tough. I don't think anyone in their right mind would disagree. I certainly wouldn't hold it against anyone if they didn't want to take on that type of work. I wouldn't judge them. There might come a time when I could no longer connect with them but the love would still be there and we would still be good.
But... it's a big one. Don't lie about it. I'll respect anyone who has the courage to say that the path of growth isn't for them. It takes balls to tell the truth about something like that. And there's really nothing to be ashamed of. This path is not for everyone. But... don't lie about it. Do you think people get that concept more easily if it's repeated in the same paragraph?
Don't tell me you're committed to growth if you're still committed to the behaviour that you're telling me you want to leave behind.
Don't tell me you're committed to growth if you still talk incessantly about the habits that stop you from growing. It doesn't matter what reasons you give. If those habits are so important to you that you're focusing on them then you're not ready to give them up.
Don't tell me you're committed to growth if you still surround yourself with the people who discourage your growth.
Don't tell me you're committed to growth if you still defend the people who attack the ones who are trying to encourage you to grow.
And maybe this is what people don't get... when we're committed to our own growth we see through the bullshit being fed to us by people who pay lip service to growth.
Don't lie to me...
